Donna Baker, Licensed Massage Therapist
Somewhere between the body’s state of rigidity and relaxation, there is a dialogue your body wants to have with you. Listening to what it asks and needs of you in this moment, a deeper healing can unfold. - Donna Baker, LMT
Professional Biography
Donna became interested in the many facets of holistic healing after receiving bodywork while recovering from a car accident. Having experienced the profound ability the body has to heal, she decided to pursue a career in massage therapy.
Donna’s massage sessions are a unique combination of modalities that include various forms of intuitive energy work, reflexology, therapeutic cupping and hot stone massage. She has found that by incorporating hot stones, a deeper level of relaxation and release may occur in the body. Her intuitive approach coupled with the intention to provide a space for healing to emerge, creates an allowing that is often needed for the body to facilitate its own healing. She is humbled by the invitation to be an integral part of each client’s journey in facilitating their desired health and wellness goals.
She attended Shenandoah Valley School of Therapeutic Massage in Virginia, graduating in 2007. Her passion and love for the subtle energies of healing have always guided her pursuits when choosing training opportunities. Her continuing studies have included an 18 month program with the White Winds Institute of Energetic Healing, Reconnective Therapy, and Basic Cranial Sacral Therapy. She received the gift of the Master level Reiki attunement, is certified with the International Cupping Therapy Association and has maintained her National Board certification for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork.
Personal & Professional Background
Donna attended Shepherd University in West Virginia, earning a BA in Physical Education & Health. After teaching ten years in the private school sector, she found that many of her students wanted to discuss their problems with her. Ready and willing to shift directions, she decided to pursue a degree in school guidance counseling. After earning a master’s degree from WVU she started working as a guidance counselor in Loudoun County, Virginia. After 28 years in education, she retired and moved to Santa Fe in 2012. Not completely ready to give up the familiarity of education, she obtained her license to become a massage instructor in 2013, teaching classes at NMAHA and Northern New Mexico College.
Donna grew up in West Virginia on a farm along the beautiful Capon River. With many acres of mountain land to explore, she grew very fond of nature as well as connecting with its many stewards. In her pursuit of relaxation as well as honoring her water phase, she enjoys djembe drumming, music, dancing and reading.
