Dr. Yvette Arellano, DOM, LMT
Professional Biography
Dr. Yvette Arellano, dually licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM) and Massage Therapist (LMT), is an advanced practitioner with over 20 years of healthcare experience. Fondly referred to as Yve by friends and patients alike, she earns positive feedback from patients referred to her work, including when she provided DOM coverage here within our first years of clinical practice.
Since beginning her bodywork practice in the 1990s, Dr. Yve remains passionate about the art of healing, committed to practicing hands-on healthcare, and she enjoys creating unique treatments for each of her patients’ needs. Training with The Four Winds Society contributed to her love for energy medicine and shamanic healing. She is capable of sensing patients’ bodily pain, remaining on the pulse of energy flow throughout her treatments. A generous provider, she’s dedicated to meeting patients where they are and equally offers of her Acupuncture and bodywork therapies.
Dr. Arellano specializes in alleviating acute and chronic pain. She excels at difficult medical cases, such as autoimmune diseases that present with inflammation in the body; neuralgia; circulation issues; and high velocity injuries from slips, falls and motor vehicle accidents. Yvette is also a proponent for food as medicine, skilled at nutritional supplementation and artfully prescribes Chinese herbal medicine to balance the body.
Yvette enjoys working with children, and her Pediatric practice extends to those with special needs. In 2010, her son was born with Down Syndrome, Autism, and Stage 2 Kidney Disease, and she has learned immensely from her direct experience of caring for her child’s health. In addition, she enjoys working with athletes to get them back to their peak performance. She’s worked with NFL football players, Olympic athletes, MMA fighters, and boxers. These experiences taught her dynamic modalities such as trigger point therapy and kinesio-taping, which are so beneficial for musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions.
Dr. Arellano offered care at our Santa Fe clinics in preparation for our Albuquerque expansion. She has worked with us consistently here since opening the doors to our beautiful Nob Hill clinic in January, 2021. As a resident of Albuquerque since 2000, Yve looks forward to working with you here.

Medical Background
Dr. Yvette Arellano DOM, LMT holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University and a Master of Sciences in Oriental Medicine. Dr. Arellano’s undergraduate major and interests mostly focused on clinical, humanistic psychology, and holistic health. As she progressed in her studies she became very interested in psychosomatics, the mind-body connection, and psycho-neuroimmunology, which relates to how our emotional states of being affect our bodies and immune systems.
During her undergraduate course of studies, she also began managing a chiropractic office and interning as a counselor for Joint Action in Community Service which is a liaison of Job Corps. JACS is the agency that continues to assist Job Corps individuals who were not successful in the program, and the agency continued to provide them with some expanded support and counseling. The program serviced young males 16-24, many of whom were from low socio-economic backgrounds. She continued this for three years and then became a volunteer counselor for the agency after she completed her undergraduate degree. From this experience, she learned the importance and value of volunteering for a cause. She realized that if everyone volunteered even just for one hour a week, what a huge impact and difference we can make in our communities. She felt like there are so many people in need of just a little assistance or support in our communities, and we often do not take the time to reach out to people that are less fortunate than we are.
After finishing her undergraduate degree, she pursued her interest in the mind-body connection and started massage therapy school. Upon completing her BA in Psychology, she was initially interested in graduate studies in Physical Therapy. However, she ultimately decided to pursue a program offered by National Holistic Institute that offered a comprehensive Western and Eastern program for massage therapy combined with a health educator certification program. This was a 720 hour program that was extensive enough to assist in Dr. Arellano’s capacity to work with Western medical professionals.
Upon graduating the yearlong Massage Therapy and health educator program at National Holistic Institute, she immediately started a private practice. Soon afterward she also became an Aide at a Physical Therapist’s office within a local YMCA gym called San Francisco Sportscare, where her interests in PT came surging back. There she learned more deeply about the inner-workings of the muscular healing process, especially post-surgical and injury-related rehabilitation protocols, as well as healing chronic pain & repetitive stress injuries. The owner, with whom she worked closely, was a superb and creative Physical Therapist with an extensive background in yoga. This mentorship provided abundant knowledge, enabling her to provide more thorough bodywork and exercise therapies for her clientele.
The summer following graduation from massage school, she had the opportunity to tour two of the Southwest Acupuncture College campuses, and she was quite impressed. Dr. Arellano dedicated herself to studying Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine there, leading to her dream career. Yve has also appeared on a local cable show as a health care contributor and has written for a local magazine in Albuquerque on health care-related topics.
